David Purger

[David Purger recieved his PhD in Fall of 2015. He now a medical student slated to graduate in 2017]

I graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2009 with a BS in Brain and Cognitive Sciences. In Michelle Monje's laboratory, I focus on the molecular mechanisms and epigenetic regulation of neuronal activity-dependent white matter remodeling and plasticity. As a physician-scientist, I hope to combine insights from developmental neurobiology and advances in pluripotent stem cell technology to make progress in the fight against degenerative diseases of the nervous system. Outside of the lab, I enjoy photography, playing and listening to all sorts of music, studying languages, and playing tennis.
